Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker says he will remain a Bears fan and continue attending games, even if the team follows through on threats to relocate to Indiana. In a recent interview with Fox Chicago's Lauren Scafidi on ChicagoLIVE, the governor addressed the ongoing speculation about the franchise's future home.
Pritzker acknowledged the emotional weight of the situation for Chicago fans, but he made it clear that his personal loyalty to the team would not waver. "I'm a Bears fan. I've been one my whole life," he said. "If they move to Indiana, I'll still go to the games. I just won't be happy about the commute."
The governor's comments come as the Bears continue to explore options outside of Chicago, including a potential stadium site in northwest Indiana. While Pritzker expressed disappointment at the possibility of losing the team to a neighboring state, he stopped short of offering any new state incentives to keep the franchise in Illinois. Instead, he focused on the broader picture of sports and family, noting that his kids are also devoted fans and that game day traditions matter more than the stadium's zip code.
Scafidi's interview also touched on the governor's personal connection to the team, revealing a lighter side of Pritzker as he joked about tailgating across state lines. The full conversation airs this weekend on ChicagoLIVE.
