The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations has officially launched the 2026 edition of the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival, calling on young filmmakers from around the world to share their visions for a more inclusive society. The festival, now in its 18th year, invites participants aged 9 to 25 to submit short videos that address issues of migration, diversity, and social cohesion.
This year's theme encourages young creators to explore the power of dialogue in bridging cultural divides. Submissions can be in any language, with English subtitles required, and should run no longer than five minutes. A panel of international judges will select winners in three age categories, with prizes including production equipment, travel grants, and mentorship opportunities from professional filmmakers.
The PLURAL+ festival has a track record of amplifying youth voices on global platforms. Past winners have seen their work screened at United Nations headquarters and international film festivals. The 2026 edition aims to build on that legacy by focusing on grassroots storytelling from underrepresented communities.
Submissions are open until June 30, 2026. Winners will be announced in September and celebrated at an awards ceremony in New York City later that year. Organizers emphasize that the festival is not a competition but a platform for young people to inspire change through the art of video.
