Watch: What are the Enhanced Games - or the 'Olympics on steroids'?

The first-ever Enhanced Games is set to launch, and it is already generating intense debate. Unlike the traditional Olympics, this new competition will openly allow dozens of elite athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs. Organizers call it a radical experiment in human potential, while critics label it a dangerous and unethical spectacle.

The event is the brainchild of Australian entrepreneur Aron D'Souza. He argues that current anti-doping rules are hypocritical and that athletes should be free to use substances like steroids and growth hormones under medical supervision. The goal, he says, is to push the boundaries of human performance without the fear of getting caught. The competition will feature track and field, swimming, gymnastics, and weightlifting, with a total prize pool of one million dollars.

Supporters claim the Enhanced Games will lead to scientific breakthroughs and safer drug use, since athletes will be monitored by doctors. They point out that many records in traditional sports were set during eras of widespread doping. However, the medical community is largely opposed. Doctors warn that the long-term health risks are severe, including heart damage, liver failure, and psychological disorders. Major sports organizations have also condemned the idea, arguing it undermines the spirit of fair competition.

The event is currently scheduled for 2025, though the exact location has not been announced. Whether it becomes a global phenomenon or a cautionary tale, the Enhanced Games is already forcing a difficult conversation about the role of drugs in sports.
